Conservative Group Delivers Affidavits to Michigan Senate Leader, Demands Election Audit

The Michigan Conservative Coalition Thursday demanded that the Republican-controlled state Senate conduct an audit of the 2020 election, like the one being conducted in Arizona.

The group said that “as co-sponsor of the ‘Let Freedom Ring’ rally on June 17, will deliver over 7,000 notarized affidavits demanding a statewide audit of Michigan’s 2020 election, as allowed by the Michigan Constitution,” according to a Thursday press release.

Star News Education Foundation Journalism Project“Those thousands of affidavits will be delivered to Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, along with copies also being delivered to 18 other elected political and judicial officials,” the release continued. “The delivery process will use a notice of service system to confirm each person’s receipt of the affidavits.”

The Thursday rally was held on steps of the Capitol in Lansing after the documents were delivered to the politicians.

Marian Sheridan, co-founder of Michigan Conservative Coalition, said the following:

“The response was overwhelming regarding the number of people wanting to participate and sign an affidavit demanding a true audit. Michigan voters know something very wrong happened in our 2020 Presidential election. Polling shows 70% of Republicans and 40% of Democrats believe some form of cheating occurred in 2020.  To ever have confidence in our election system, we need to know what actually happened in 2020. We need to know how to prevent it in the future, Through this affidavit process, thousands of Michigan voters are demanding a forensic audit of the 2020 Michigan election. It will be up to our elected officials to either hear or continue to ignore the voices of the people of their state.”

One of the featured speakers at the rally was Republican Secretary of State candidate Kristina Karamo.

Karamo recently returned from Arizona, where election officials in Maricopa County are holding a high-profile audit of the 2020 election. Biden won Arizona by a small margin, just like he did in Michigan.

“I really liked the transparency,” she said after observing the audit. “I think it’s really critical for the public to know, irrespective of political party, that this audit is being ran with integrity. I also like all the checks and balances, the absolute chain of custody – that’s what’s critical. That’s what’s needed in our election process for people to sign in and out every time they touch a key artifact of the election. That was wonderful.”

“We are encouraging our state legislators to do the exact same thing that we see in Arizona, in Michigan,” Karamo said, noting that election audits are not about partisanship, but rather about “establish[ing] an election system that proves its own integrity.”
